The Many Uses of Corn
Believe it or not, corn is in many foods we eat - directly as crops, and also in livestock feed. It is one of the largest industries in the United States, worth about $60 billion annually. This blog is dedicated to looking at the bleak future for corn crops as climate change continues to worsen, based on droughts, changes in soil quality, and increasing temperatures (10). The United States experienced one of the worst droughts in recent history, causing a sharp decline in corn production and thus a sharp increase in food prices. Although the problems we face are paramount, there are solutions available to prevent food insecurity.
